报告一:Introduction of citrus red mite: from basic to application research

Jinzhi Niu, professor at Southwest University, head of the Department of Entomology. He was selected as the young talent of Bayu Scholar of Chongqing. His main research interests are the interaction between insect RNA virus and host, and RNAi pesticide for pest control. He has published more than 20 papers in PNAS, Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Current Opinion Insect Science, etc.

Miodrag (Mike) Grbic is an associate professor at the University of Western Ontario (Canada) leading the Arthropod and agricultural genomic program. Dr. Grbic’ led the team that sequenced the first chelicerate genome, the genome of the two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae, and is one of the founders of biotech company Nanomitech.

Takeshi Suzuki is an associate professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. His research focuses on the sensory ecology and chronobiology in insects and mites through molecular and physiological approaches. His current projects include the development of biopesticides, plant-pest interactions, and entomophagy.

Wannes Dermauw is a senior researcher at Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (ILVO) in Belgium. Wannes has mainly researched with Tetranychus urticae and investigated the molecular mechanisms of adaptation to xenobiotic compounds. Currently, Wannes investigates how new molecular techniques can be used to rapidly identify and control pests.

Maria NAVAJAS is a professor at French National Research Institute for Agriculture. Her main scientific interest focuses on the ecology and evolution of mite crop pests and their management within a population genetic framework. Emphasis is done on emerging threats caused by invasive species. She acted more than 10 years, as vice-chair of the Plant Health Panel at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
